The Seward County Commission met on Tuesday evening for their first meeting in July. Among the items approved were the Cimarron Basin FY2022 Carryover Reimbursements budget and the revisions to Cimarron Basin’s FY2022 for submission to the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Commissioners authorized Bertram & Graf, LLC to cast a “yes” vote to confirm the proposed plan in potential litigation against contributors of opioid addiction crisis.

The Commission approved Resolution 2021-19, a Proclamation of a State of Local Disaster Emergency for Seward County, Kansas for the June 25, 2021 storms, and tabled a decision$2,500 special assessment to the Kansas Natural Resource Coalition (KNRC)  to actively work on the listing of the Lesser Prairie-Chicken (LPC) pending further information.

The Commissioners also tabled the correction to the  forms to be signed by the Board of Seward County Commissioners from KDOT  for the acquisition of 0.07 acres next to the sandpit.

Matthew Teel’s application to the Southwest Guidance Center Board was approved and the Commissioners voted to approve Amended Resolution 2021-18. There was a typographical error in the wording.

Commissioners approved moving forward with repairs to the fencing and bleachers at the rodeo grounds with the possibility of renting bleachers in time for the PRCA event in August.
