Seward County Commission Meets, Approves LSCDC Positions

The Seward County Commission met Monday evening and after approving a Printer Lease for the County Attorney’s Office for $267.24 for 36 months, voted on the At Large positions on the Liberal/Seward County Development Corporation. The Commission voted Mel Patterson, Tina Call, Tony McKee, Tano Tovilla and Roger Crossman as their choices. Adding the votes that were taken at the Liberal City Commission meeting last Tuesday evening, the 5 at Large Positions will go to Call, Crossman McKee, Patterson, and Tovilla.

The Seward County Commission approved for attorney’s interested in the Guardian ad Litem Contracts to submit applications by Thursday December 13th. The County will then choose three from the applicants. Seward County has budgeted $4,00 per month for each of theses positions.

The Commission then approved to reimburse and pay expenses for the Rural Fire Department in the amount of $118,787. These were budgeted expenses, but due to tax shortages, the Commission had to take action.

Commissioners also made the decision to be open  December 5th, 2018.

They understand that it is a day of mourning for the loss of President Bush and his service to our Country.  The decision was based on the needs of Seward County constituents and what other counties were doing across the State of Kansas.

The Commission hopes that everyone understands these are difficult decisions that require the Commissioners to take into account all that are affected and the services that we provide to the citizens of Seward County.
