Seward County Commission Hears Several Updates

The Seward County Commission met Tuesday evening and heard updates from the Liberal Senior Center, Kirkham Michael, Work Comp, and on Tax Recovery.

Commissioners approved the purchase of the upgrade of software for the HVAC at the Event Center. The Software will cost $7850.00.

The Board appointed Rustin Wettstein to the Planning & Zoning Board to fill the vacant 3-year term expiring December 31, 2027.

Commissioners approved the changes to the By-Laws for the Fair to increase the number of directors to (15) fifteen, (8) eight from the Association membership, and (7) seven appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. The association will strive to have each County Commissioner District represented. A majority must be Seward County residents. A majority of the whole number of the Board of Directors shall constitute a quorum. The K-State Research/Extension agents, Commission Liaison, and Seward County Activity Center director shall serve as non-voting board members in addition to the (15) directors.
If the Commissioner Allocation is reduced by increments of $10,000, the Commissioners lose (1) one seat per increment with that seat returning to the Association.

Appointed to the Fair Board was Amanda DeVellan, Cameron Randle, Carmelita Goosen, Cassandra Martinez, Cheryl Collins, Erin Atchley, Kaylonni Bradley, Kim Tanking, Patricia Fierro, Sheryl Ray, Stone Stafford, Terry Tanking, and Judy Stuckey.

The Noxious Weed 2025 Weed Plan & 2024 Sales & Treatment, Noxious Weed 2024 Annual Report and the KDOT & Seward Co. agreement for the Noxious Weed Department to spray StateRight of Ways were all approved by the Commission.

Also approved were the County’s Fixed Assets, and Aging Reprt Write-Offs.
