Seward County Commission Approves GO Bond Sales for Road Work

The Seward County Commission met on Monday evening at 5:30 pm and approved the Bond Sale Resolution approving the sale of General Obligation Bonds, Series 2025 on February 3, 2025. The amount being offered for sale is $6,105,000 to pay the cost/portion of the cost for road improvements.

Commissioners approved a Conditional Use Permit Application submitted by Saffire Renewables to allow the expansion of an existing Conditional Use to install a pilot plant on the Conestoga Arkalon Ethanol site that will convert corn stover to ethanol.

Tabled by the Commission was a resolution that would have allowed the revision of certain provisions of the Seward County Zoning regulations and subdivision regulations. This will be brought back at the next meeting.

Commissioners adopted Resolution 2025-04 which requires event sponsors to provide adequate portable sanitary facilities for public use during any event at the rodeo arena, and gave approval for the issuance of a special check for the purchase of a new modular ambulance from Emergency Vehicle Sales LLC in the amount of $277,401.00 with monies to come from the EMS Donation account and the ARPA funds.

Edgar Ortuno was appointed to the Planning and Zoning Board, and the Commission designated the Bank Depositories for 2025.
