Seward County Commission Approve Asphalt Road Construction

The Seward County Commission met on Monday evening at 5:30 pm and issued a Proclamation that October 6-12, 2024 as national 4-H Week in Seward County.

The Board also approved and signed the Fiscal Year 2024 Year-End Outcome Report for Cimarron Basin Community Corrections. Commissioners approved the Chair of the local Democrat Committee and the Chair of the local Republican Committee, to be present and oversee the destruction of election records for the 2022 General Election and the 2023 City/School Elections pursuant to KSA 25-2708. In the event the Chairs are not available, allow each to appoint their replacement.

Approved was the change order submitted for the installation of additional ADA sidewalks at the Seward County Rodeo Arena. Additional sidewalks would connect to the sidewalk extending from the new bleachers to the handicap parking. These additional sidewalks would allow handicap (Wheelchair) access to the restrooms and concession stand. Cost of the Change Order is $21,230.15.

The Commission then approved Resolution 2024-13 a General Obligation Bond to Build and Repair Roads. A protest period will open.

Commissioners then approved bid from J & R Sand Company at $5,856,041.00 for the Seward Co. 2025 asphalt overlay project.

The following road projects in accordance with plans and specifications are:

Road R – US 54 to US-160
Meade Lake Road – US-54 to Meade County Line
V Road – Meade Lake Road to US-54
Road 16 – T Road to Kismet Main Street
Kismet Main Street – US-54 to Road 16
Road J – Road I to K-190
Larabee Road – Oklahoma State Line to US-160
Kismet Main Street – US-54 to Road 16 to possibly be added in later.
