Severe weather looks possible, mainly in southern Kansas starting Thursday afternoon and lasting into the late evening. Large hail and gusty winds appear to be the main threats, although a tornado or two cannot be ruled out in southwest Kansas. Storms could move into the Wichita metro area during the early evening.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of the western half of Kansas under a slight risk of severe weather Thursday.
Friday’s threat area appears to be the eastern half of the state, roughly along and east of Interstate 135.
