Barton swept Seward 8-7 in eight innings and 7-3 last night in Hays to sweep the double header. It’s the first conference series loss for the Saints who lose three straight conference games for the first time in three years. Seward falls to 8-8 in the Jayhawk West and 19-13 overall. The Saints led the first game 7-4 with one out and nobody on base in the bottom of the seventh. But Barton (17-16, 11-9) would rally to tie the game on Saints closer Travis Parker who walked home the tying run. Barton’s Brett Schwartz drove home the game winning run in the bottom of the eighth. Parker blasted his eighth homer in the loss and Trent Martinez hit a bases loaded triple. Keegan Morrow and Mikel Huston added two hits a piece. In game two, the Cougars scored five of their seven runs with two outs. The Saints mustered five hits. Seward hosts Dodge City Saturday and Sunday for double headers starting at 1 pm. The first games of both double headers will air on Talkradio 1270 and kscb.net.
