LIBERAL, Kan. – Seward County Community College will host a town hall with Sen. Jerry Moran at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25 on the new West Campus.

“We are excited to have Sen. Moran speaking at the West campus,” said SCCC President Brad Bennett. “He is a strong advocate for the college and was instrumental in helping us obtain funding for the new facility.”

Moran will discuss the federal funding for the college, including other various topics. The college received $1.2 million in federal funding, which included a SCCC line item sponsored by the Kansas senator.

The community is welcome and encouraged to attend the town hall.

In the fall of 2023, the college successfully secured a 42,000 square foot existing building and 12 acres on Western Avenue, directly north of the USD 480 high school. The facility will house the SCCC truck driving program and diesel technology program with the purchase effectively cutting the project price by nearly half, while doubling the square footage.

“This facility creates more opportunities for the college,” said Bennett. “The building will be used for the two programs that are the focus of state and federal funding. In addition, space will be dedicated for a partnership with USD 480 to provide access to technical education.”
