Second Half Surge Helps Skins Bury Buffaloes

The Liberal soccer team seems to be putting things together at the right time. The Redskins beat a good Garden City team 3-1 Tuesday evening at Redskin Field.
Liberal had the strong south wind at their back in the first half and Jose Covarrubias sliced home a goal with an assist from Isai Gutierrez at the 31:31 mark. Garden City (7-4, 3-3) made it 1-1 tie at the 24:13 mark.
Liberal wasted little time jumping all over the Buffaloes in the second half against the win. Gutierrez rolled a ball into the south net 59 second into the second half to make it 2-1 and Christian Espinza rocked the south goal at the 30:40 mark to make it 3-1.
The Redskins have won three straight and are 5-5 overall and 3-2 in the WAC.
Liberal hosts Hays Thursday at 2:45 p.m. for the varsity game.
