Cyara Heredia will advance to national pageant
Pageant enthusiasts in Liberal let out a whoop of triumph Jan. 20, as Seward County Community College student Cyara Heredia, Miss Liberal, was crowned Miss Kansas Teen USA 2020 in Lawrence. Heredia will have the chance to represent Kansas in Miss USA Teen 2020 pageant later this spring.
A pageant veteran — she has won titles in the Miss Kansas Jr. High and Collegiate America Pageant — Heredia received a $2,500 cash award and other many prizes as reigning Miss Teen Kansas.
Her long-term goal is to earn a law degree, but for the time being, Heredia is basking in the achievement on stage.
“Every great dream starts with a dreamer,” she posted on the Miss Kansas Teen USA Facebook page. “I would say I dreamed and I achieved! Sunday night my world changed in a flash of a second when I heard ‘Liberal’ called as the new winner. I can’t wait to see all the exciting things the future has in store and I’m beyond excited to introduce myself as your new Miss Kansas Teen USA 2020.”
On campus at SCCC, team members and fellow students know Heredia as a high-achieving class member and friendly face in the President’s office, where she is a student worker.
“We are always happy to see Cyara,“ said executive assistant to the president and board of trustees Lois Magner. “She has been reliable and helpful, particularly in digitizing archives of board minutes.”
“We’re proud of all our students, and whenever one of them achieves excellence, it’s worthy of celebration,“ added college president, Dr. Ken Trzaska. “Our warmest congratulations to Cyara.”
