Liberal, Kansas – After a slow start through their first two games of the 2024 season, the Seward County Men’s Soccer team caught fire early in their matchup with the Lamar Lopes as the Saints scored the most goals in a single game in program history as they ran through their opponents for a 4-0 victory to put SCCC in the win column.

Scoring started for the Saints five minutes into the first half with a foul in the box leading to a PK attempt from Felipe Flores who launched in the first goal of the season for Seward County to put the Saints ahead 1-0 over Lamar. Flores continued to show his skills on the field as he took control of the ball and slashed his way down field where he found Renan Ferreira for a shot from outside the box that ended up in the corner of the goal for another SCCC goal to increase the lead to 2-0 heading into the halftime break.

Chad Haynes took control in the second half as the freshman forward found open space ten minutes into the second half off a dime from Francisco Nava Gomez where he launched in a rocket towards the center of the goal for a 3-0 Saints lead. Haynes was not satisfied with just one goal as he continued to barrage the opposing goalkeeper with shot attempts and eventually scored goal number two off a pinpoint pass from Carlos Guerrero to put the contest out of reach at 4-0 to give SCCC their first win of the 2024 season.

Seward County now improves to 1-1-1 on the 2024 campaign as they now head out on a three-game road stint to resume KJCCC action beginning with Cowley on Wednesday September 4th at 7:00 PM.
