LIBERAL, Kan. — Seward County Community College is ready to expand operations to its newly renovated West Campus site at 712 N. Western Ave. The college invites the public to attend a ribbon-cutting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 14.
“We are so excited to move into the new space,” said Vice President of Career & Technical Education, Dr. Amber Jones. “Truck driving / CDL will be the first program, and we will gradually add diesel technology.”
College President Brad Bennett said the transformation of a former retail space into classrooms and labs is gratifying.
“Three years ago, we decided to expand our truck-driving program with a plan for a completely new building. Then one day we realized we could save the taxpayers a lot of money and improve our community by repurposing this location,” he said. “We’ve done it with grant funding. It’s a huge win for SCCC and for our community.”
SCCC will serve burgers at the ribbon cutting, and the public can tour the facility.
“We have a lot of space here, and the options for more programs and collaboration are great,” Bennett said. “We’re just very excited about the future.”
