Saints Use Long Ball to Take Game One with Neosho

The Seward County Saints hit five home runs on the way to a 15-7 game one win over the Neosho County Panthers Wednesday afternoon at Brent Gould Field.  Tristan Curless smacked two home runs including a grand slam as Seward takes a 1-0 series lead over Neosho.

Neosho plated a run in the first and two in the third to lead 3-0.  The Saints used a six run fourth to take hold of the game.  Jaxson Gregg walked, Elijah Bear singled, Mason Hagel-Pitt reached on an infield hit.  Tristan Curless hit a grand slam over the left field wall for the 4-3 lead.  Trenton Rowan singled and Connor Cox got a ball up into the jet stream and over the wall in left center for the 6-3 lead.  Neosho scored one in the top of the fifth to make it 6-4.  SCCC scored two in the fifth.  Jaxson Gregg walked and Tristan Curless hit a two run home run to left center for the 8-4 lead.  The Saints scored four in the sixth.  Trenton Rowan homered off the scoreboard in the left center for the 9-4 lead.  Connor Cox singled.  Cameron Cartwright and Ranse Radtke singled and Jaxson Gregg singled home a run.  Elijah Bear hit a sac fly to center.  Mason Hagel-Pitt grounded out to score a run and make it 12-4.  The Panthers scored three in the seventh to make it 12-7.  The Saints scored three in the eighth.  Cameron Cartwright hit a solo home run off the scoreboard.  Ranse Radtke singled.  Elijah Bear singled.  Tristan Curless singled home a run off the third baseman.  Jarron Wilcox walked with the bases loaded.

Seward out-hit Neosho 17-9.  Seward had the game’s only error.  Tristan Curless was Epic Touch Player of the Game going 3-5 with seven RBI’s.  Ranse Radtke was 3-5.  Brian Luna improved to 10-2 going 6 and 1/3 innings with 10 strikeouts and three walks.  Elias Herrera went 1 and 2/3 scoreless with three strikeouts and no walks.  TJ Newman pitched a scoreless ninth.

Neosho is 33-23 and Seward is 32-24.  Seward leads the best two out of three series 1-0.  The same two teams meet Thursday afternoon at 2pm at Brent Gould Field.  Dugout Show at 1:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
