In seven innings, the Seward County Saints stranded 14 runners on base in a 10-2 run rule loss to the Fort Scott Greyhounded Thursday morning and afternoon at Eck Stadium at Wichita State. SCCC only mustered two runs despite Fort Scott pitching walking five and hitting four Saints batters. The Saints finish 33-26.
The Saints scored two in the first as FSCC walked three. Ranse Radtke singled to lead off the inning. Elijah Bear grounded out to drive home a run. Connor Cox scored on a wild pitch. Fort Scott scored one in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the fifth to lead 4-2. They claimed that 4-2 lead with three home runs. The Greyhounds ran away in the eighth with six runs to end it. The NJCAA’s leading home run hitting team hit four home runs. The Saints loaded the bases with one out in the second after Fort Scott hit three batters. Seward did not score. Seward had two on with one out in the third and did not score. Seward loaded the bases with no outs in the fifth and did not score. Fort Scott out-hit Seward 10-7. SCCC had the game’s only error.
Fort Scott is 38-22 and Seward finishes 33-26.
