Seward sputtered their first several minutes against the Sterling JV after seeing zone for the first time. But that didn’t last long in Seward’s 119-35 opening win over the 1-1 Warriors Friday night in the Green House. Seward shot 54 percent and forced 43 Sterling turnovers while holding them to under 28 percent shooting.

Daveon Boardingham scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the first half and didn’t play in the second half. Hayden Harris and Briston White scored 16 a piece. Irvin Hollinger scored 15. Trey Starks added 14 points.

The Saints host God’s Academy Prep School at 8 p.m. Saturday night on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net. They lost 74-51 to Dodge City Friday afternoon. The Conqs host the Sterling JV at 4 p.m. Saturday as part of the Pepsi Classic.
