Saints Host Baseball Alumni Weekend Next Month

KSCB News - August 9, 2012 3:38 pm

Once again on Labor Day Weekend, Brent Gould Field will
be filled with memories of times past as the Seward County Baseball
program hosts its 2nd Saints Baseball Alumni Weekend. After an
extremely successful event in 2010 that bought nearly 30 former Saints
legends back to Liberal for a weekend of fun, Head Coach Galen McSpadden
and company will more less mimic the format that was used for the
Inaugural Weekend this time around.

Friday night, August 31st, there will be an informal
gathering at Billy’s for any players and their families who come into
town the night before the big game. Saturday the alumni team will take
batting practice before an optional home run derby competition in which
prizes will once again be given. Following that, it is time for
business as the alumni team will get loose and then at 12:00 try their
luck against the current Saints club. Upon completion of the game there
will be a dinner and auction at Vargas Restaurant to close out the day’s
activities. On Sunday, the group will be at it again to close out the
weekends festivities, this time on the golf course, where an 18 hole
scramble tournament will take place at Willow Tree Golf Course. Outside
players who would like to play alongside the alums are also welcomed to
participate in the golf tournament.

Weekend, please contact Roy Allen at 620-417-1553 or [email protected].
