Seward County crossed the border into Missouri for day two of their weekend trip where they took control of their matchup against Metropolitan to score four goals in a 4-0 win to head back home in the win column.

The Saints started off the contest relying on their strong defensive presence through most of the first half as Bruno Mestres continued to show why he was named back-to-back NJCAA Goalkeeper of the Week with a pair of saves in front of the cross bar to keep the Wolves scoreless. Seward County eventually took control over possession and never looked back as they drove down field to lay on an offensive barrage of shots with the first to score coming from Renan Ferreira who put the Saints in the driver’s seat with a 1-0 lead entering the halftime break.

The second half was an offensive showcase for Seward County as they continued to drive down field against the Wolves with their second goal coming off the feed from Chad Haynes who made a split-second pass to Fin McCole who slid in for a 2-0 lead. Leonardo Anez led the Saints back down the field with 15:00 minutes left in the contest where he passed through the back line of MCC to send over a cross to Fernando Moura Filho who quickly cashed in with Seward County’s third score of the game to push the lead out to 3-0 over the Wolves. Moura Filho returned the favor a few minutes later to help his team score one final time as he connected with Jose Alberto Sanchez on the right side where he crossed over the opposing goalkeeper to snatch up both his opponents’ ankles and a goal to make it a 4-0 win for Seward County.

The Saints now improve to a 5-4-3 overall record on the 2024 campaign while remaining 1-3-3 in conference action. Seward County will wrap up their five-game road stint as well as their nonconference schedule with a trip west to Colorado as the Saints take on Lamar on Tuesday at 4:00 PM.
