The Seward County Saints were aiming to turn around their less than illustrious history at Coffeyville Wednesday night. They led early in the second half after a 9-0. But the Saints fell apart late as Coffeyville went on a 22-3 run in beating the Saints 72-57 Wednesday night in Nellis Hall on Herkelman Court. The Saints are 2-14 at Coffeyville.
It was a highly competitive first half as the Saints were following their game plan. They trailed 36-33 at the half. A Carson Bennett three gave the Saints a 38-36 lead and SCCC led 42-36. Seward led 45-44 on an Amir Whitlock three. The game was tied 49-49. Coffeyville raced to a 65-50 lead.
The Red Ravens led points off turnovers 25-10. This has been a problematic stat for the Saints all season. The Saints shot 40 percent and went 5-23 from three and 10-14 at the free throw line. The Ravens shot 43 percent and were 7-17 from three point range and 19-24 from the foul line.
Blessin Kimble was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 13 points and seven rebounds. Amir Whitlock had 12 points and six rebounds.
