The Seward County Saints fall to 1-3 in overtime games as the Fort Hays Tech Tigers rallied past the Saints 64-56 Saturday night in Max Jones Fieldhouse in Goodland. Seward led most of the game and led by six (35-29) in the second half.
Seward executed their gameplan nearly perfectly in the first half. They slowed the game down, got into the lane, and connected on multiple baskets with the shot clock at two or less. The Saints led 28-24 at the half.
The Saints led most of the second half as well in a game that featured 14 ties and eight lead changes. The Saints led by as many six at 35-29 and led 45-40. Seward led 46-44 before Tech went on a 4-0 run led by their press to lead 48-46. A Muhammed Jobe hook from the high lane hit nothing but net tying the game at 48-48 with two seconds left. The game went to overtime. Tech hit 7-8 shots and dominated overtime to win the game.
Kiku Parker was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 20 points, seven assists, and five rebounds. He only had two turnovers.
The Saints drop their sixth straight and fall to 3-21 overall and 2-17 in the Jayhawk. Tech is 9-14 overall and 7-12 in the Jayhawk. Seward hosts Colby Wednesday night at 8pm in the Green House on 107.5. Southern Pioneer Electric is the buyout sponsor.
