Saints Defenseless in Pratt Loss

KSCB News - February 12, 2009 12:00 am

Defense was only a theory and not an application last night at Lesh Arena in Pratt. Pratt hit 53 percent of their shots and 67 percent in the second half in route to a 91-79 win over Seward. The Saints only forced nine Pratt turnovers. The Saints led by 11 in the first half and led 45-36 at halftime. Seward led 60-52 with 12 minutes to play but the Beavers (15-10, 5-6) went on runs of 14-2 and 19-4 and would never lose their lead. Tony Smith poured in 26 points in the loss while Jon Tassin added 15 points and 10 rebounds on a night when the Saints out-rebounded Pratt by three and shot 49 percent from the field. Pratt’s Michael Tyler scored 30 and grabbed nine rebounds. Seward falls into a tie with Hutchinson again for fourth fourth place at 19-7 overall and 6-6 in the Jayhawk West. The Saints host Cloud Saturday night at 8 p.m. on B107.5 and kscb.net.
