Saints Break Out Bats in Game Two in El Dorado

The Seward County Saints responded. On the heels of a punch less 7-1 game one loss at Butler, the Saints responded with a 17-7 game two win over the Grizzlies at McDonald Stadium in El Dorado.

In game one, Seward had one run on nine hits and didn’t score until the seventh and final inning. The Grizzlies scored two in the third, one in the fourth and fifth, and three in the sixth. The Grizzlies beat Austin King who worked five and two thirds innings and allowed six earned runs.

In game two the Saints scored 17 runs on eighteen hits and hit three home runs with the wind blowing out at nearly 40 miles per hour with the temperature in the mid to upper 80’s. Brent Williams slugged a three run homer to right center in the first for his seventh homer of the season. Brandon Urquizo lined a homer to left in the third for his second of the season to make it 4-0 Saints. Seward added three in the fifth aided by RBI triples from Bryson Allen and Kevin Connolly. Williams’ two RBI double in the sixth gave SCCC AT 9-0 lead. After Butler scored one in the seventh and two in the eighth, Seward scored eight in the ninth. Allen’s towering three run homer to left center was his sixth of the season. Connolly added an RBI triple. He was 4-6 in the game with two triples and two doubles. Williams was 3-5 with five RBI’s, a homer , and two doubles. Allen was 3-4 with a homer, a triple, and four RBI’s. JB Olson improved to 7-2 by pitching eight innings with seven strikeouts, one walk, and three runs.

Seward is 29-24 overall and 16-14 in he Jayhawk West and Butler is 32-21 and 18-12 in the conference. Seward plays at Butler Sunday at 1 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
