Running Redskins Aim to Keep Winning Ways

KSCB News - August 29, 2012 1:57 pm

The LHS cross country team has become one of the top teams in 5A. Take out the private schools (Bishop Carroll, Aquinas, Miege, Kapaun, etc) and they may have the best public school cross country program in the state. The Redskins have qualified to five straight state meets including a fourth place finish last year.

Liberal returns three runners who ran in the state meet last year under second year head coach Tyson McGuire. Junior Angel Viveros placed fourth last year while senior Daniel Frazier was 26th at state last year and sophomore Obed Quintana was 55th. Junior Sammy Obando transfers to LHS after competing at the state meet in Colorado. Junior Erving Altamirano comes over from football. Freshmen Emilio Tovilla and Greg McClurg join the Redskin varsity right out of the gates.
