The Kansas Department of Transportation expects a project to mill in rumble strips on US-56 in Morton County to start this week, weather permitting.

Rumble strips will be added to the shoulders of US-56 from Elkhart, east to Rolla. Work should begin on Wednesday, March 23 and be finished by the end of the week. This mobile operation will be confined to the shoulder of the road, but drivers should be alert to warning signs, be prepared to slow down and drive cautiously through the work zone.

Surface Preparation Technologies, Inc. is the contractor for this 36-thousand dollar project, which includes adding rumble strips to portions of US-50 and US-400 in Ford County.

If you have questions on this project, please contact Greg Adams, Construction Engineer, at 620-624-4451 or Kirk Hutchinson, Southwest District Public Affairs Manager, at 620-276-3241.
