The Kansas Department of Transportation expects a resurfacing project on US-56 through Gray County to begin by Monday, April 23. The project runs from the Haskell-Gray county line, east to the east city limits of Ensign.
During construction, traffic will be limited to one lane through the work zone, guided by a pilot car. The Kansas DOT reminds drivers to be alert, pay attention to all work zone warning signs, slow down when approaching a work zone and be prepared to stop.
Shilling Construction Company, Inc., of Manhattan, is the primary contractor for this approximately $4.7 million T-WORKS preservation project. KDOT expects the work to be completed by the end of June, weather permitting.
