Road O Construction Notification

Joe Denoyer - October 22, 2024 10:43 pm

The Seward County Road & Bridge Department will begin working on the reconstruction and improvements to County Road O beginning today. This construction will take place on County Road O from Highway 54 to Road 4 (Bluebell Road). Construction is estimated to last 4-6 weeks, contingent upon weather or other unexpected conditions.

The crews will begin with dirt work: constructing ditches, elevating the road where necessary, placing culverts, reconstructing the base of the road, and applying a product called Perma- Zyme. Perma-Zyme is a unique soil stabilizer that turns native soil into a hard, concrete-like surface. This stabilizer holds up to heavy traffic, requiring less maintenance and fewer repairs, while also reducing dust.

County Road 0 will be closed to through traffic during the construction phase.

During construction, it is necessary for Road & Bridge crews to temporarily remove some mailboxes. The Road & Bridge crews will remove the mailboxes, return them to the owners, and replace them when the project is completed. We have contacted the Post Office, and they will hold the mail until the mailboxes are put back in place. If you have any questions regarding
your mail service, please contact the Post Office by calling 620-624-4031.

We appreciate everyone’s patience during this process. Always be safe and remain alert while driving in construction zones.
