LIBERAL, Kan. – Seward County Community College will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of phase two of the Sharp Family Champions Center at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 9.

The community is invited to attend the dedication ceremony and recognition of donors. Lunch and refreshments will be served.

“The Sharp Family Champions Center has become a reality thanks to community support,” said Seward County Community College President Brad Bennett. “That support has been unwavering and we could not be prouder to have this kind of community engagement. From $1 donations to major gifts, it has been a collaborative effort.”

The SCCC Foundation has been vital and instrumental in the entire Sharp Family Champions Center project.

“We are extremely pleased that phase two has reached its fruition,” said Sarah Thompson, interim SCCC Foundation director. “We are so grateful to our donors. This project could not be accomplished without their support.

“This will be not only be a great asset to our student-athletes but the community as well,” she continued. “We can’t wait for the community to come out and see the facility.”

Phase two, which is the companion building to the indoor hitting facility, will house the locker rooms, weight rooms and offices for the baseball and softball teams.

“We’re so excited to come to the finish line on this project,” Bennett said. “It’s a big step forward for Saints athletics, the college, and our community.”
