Resurfacing to begin in Seward/Meade counties

Traffic changes are scheduled to start, Tuesday, March 28, along U.S. 160 from the U.S. 83 junction to the U.S. 54 junction, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

U.S. 160 traffic will be reduced to one lane through the project area. Motorists should be aware of delays of up to 15 minutes as one-lane traffic will be directed by flaggers and a pilot car through the work zone. The lane reduction will be marked by signs and cones. U.S. 160 will be open to normal traffic when construction is not taking place.

This project consists of a half-inch milling and a 1.5-inch asphalt overlay on the existing pavement. After this, new permanent pavement markings and rock edge wedge will be applied along the roadway shoulders.

J&R Sand, of Liberal, is the contractor on this $2.4 million project, which is expected to be completed by the end of May, weather permitting.

For more information on this project, contact Larry Meyer, Area Construction Manager, at (620) 384-7821, or Yazmin Moreno, KDOT Public Affairs Manager for the southwest region, at (620) 260-6397.
