Newly elected Representative Shannon Francis (R-Liberal) on Wednesday carried an agriculture bill on the House floor.

The bill, HB 2063, amends current language in statute regarding the definition of the “project” as it relates to public water supply. The effect of the bill will give the Kansas Department of Health and Environment more flexibility.

“Representative Francis did a great job explaining the bill to his legislative colleagues,” said House Speaker Ray Merrick (R-Stilwell). “He’s doing a great job engaging in the legislative process.”

Representative Francis is a member of the House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources. To “carry” a bill on the House floor means explaining the bill and answering questions from fellow representatives during floor debate of the committee of the whole during general orders.
