Two large motor homes and several sport utility vehicles bearing the names of Live with Regis and Kelly will spend the night at the Holiday Inn Express in Liberal as they make their way to New York for a 72 day 40 mile a day run with benefits ‘Action for Healthy Kids’.
Ultra-Marathoner Dean Karnazes is running across the country with teammates. His journey can be viewed each week day on NBC’s Live with Regis and Kelly. The team runs 40 miles a day and made their way to Liberal around three Friday afternoon. Teammates run with Dean on the trek and hold 5 K runs along the way to raise money to help fight obesity among kids.
Karnazes consumes 10,000 calories a day to keep his energy. His body fat is only 3 percent, with a heart rate in the 30’s.
The Trek began at Disneyland in California and will end in New York City in 46 more days. Five K runs are planned in Wichita on Thursday.
