Redskins Win Two Friday in Alva

The Liberal baseball team won three of four on their road trip to Alva.  They finish the week 4-2.  Friday afternoon in Alva, the Redskins beat Perry 10-3 and Crossings Christian 12-2.

In game one, Braxton Hyde improved to 5-0 pitching 6 and 1/3 inning with nine strikeouts and no walks.  He allowed one earned run.  Offensively, Pancho Terrazas, Dylan Thompson, and Ethan Green had two hits a piece.  The Skins scored one in the first and Perry had two in the second.  Perry led 3-1 with a run in the fourth.  The Redskins broke through with five in the fourth to lead 6-3 and one in the fifth to lead 7-3.  The Angry Red added three in the sixth.  Liberal committed four errors in the win.

The Redskins knocked off Crossings Christian in the second game of the day.  The game went four innings due to the run rule.  James Armstrong pitched four innings with five strikeouts for the win.  Terrazas, and Javy Bojorquez had two hits a piece.  Bojorquez drove home three runs and doubled.  The Redskins scored two in the first.  Crossings scored one in the second.  LHS had a seven run third to lead 9-1.  Liberal scored three in the fourth to end it.

Liberal is 10-4 and returns to Western Athletic Conference play Friday in Hays at 4 with Redskin Pre-game at 3:45 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
