The Liberal soccer team is 3-0 after winning the Wichita South Titan Classic Saturday. The Skins outlasted the Emporia Spartans on penalty kicks. The game was a scoreless tie after regulation. Liberal won penalty kicks 4-2.

Liberal’s defense was superb the entire tournament allowing just one goal. Saturday goalie Jose Alonso provided a second half save on a corner kick. At the end of the first half, Jacob McCarter saved a goal at the post on a cross pass.

In PK’s, Emporia missed their first attempt and Liberal’s Pedro Lara, Angel Archuletta, Brian Alvarez, and Johnny Del Val scored PK’s.

Liberal played without one of their top offensive threats Eliel Gonzalez who was injured in Thursday’s game against Maize.

The Redskins open WAC play at Great Bend Thursday.
