KSCB News - September 4, 2009 12:00 am

Liberal’s soccer team has come a long way. From a co-ed program playing near National Beef to now playing in front of a big crowd under the lights at Redskin Field. Liberal topped Great Bend 4-2. Eduardo Campos scored Liberal’s first goal on a penalty kick 14 minutes into the game. The Panthers headed a corner kick to the back of the net three minutes later to tie the game at one which was the halftime score. Eleven minutes into the second half, Eduardo Moreno scored thanks to an Isiai Gutierrez assist. Five minutes later, Alvin Portillo found the back of the net and seconds later Jose Flores gave the Redskins a 4-1 lead. Liberal plays in the Wichita South Titan Classic beginning Monday.
