Redskins Win Hays Tournament

LHS Boys’ Tennis takes 1 st Place at the Hays Invitational Tennis Tournament on Monday, April 11 th . Liberal finished with 29 points followed by Great Bend with 27 points. Competing teams included Great Bend, Scott City, Abilene Russell, Hays, and Trego Community.
Individual Results:
#1 Singles—Larcyn Carter went 1-2 on the day. He defeated Max Haverfield from Hays 6-1, Lost to Abilene’s Matthew Barlow 1-6, then lost a tough match with Hays’ Taylor Ermoian 5-6 (2) to earn 4 th Place.
#2 Singles—Josh Hamilton went 3-0 on the day earning the 1 st Place gold medal. He defeated Justus Jungnickel from Hays 6-0, defeated Carl Minnix from Scott City6-3, then defeated Great Bend’s Ramon Garcia 6-1 to finish 1 st Place.
#1 Doubles—Duc Nguyen and Vince Nguyen went 3-0 on the day finishin 1 st Place. They defeated Hays’ Contrerrez/Desaire 6-1, defeated Abilene’s Guccione/Yeager 6-1, then defeated Trego’s Sherwood/Uhrich 6-1 top win 1 st Place honors.
#2 Doubles—Tony Rodriquez/Ozzy Villarreal went 3-0 finishing 1 st Place. They defeated Hays’ Pflieger/Reyes 6-3, defeated Great Bend’s Neeland/Hildebrand 6-5 (4), then defeated Abilene’s Dunlap/Kijowski 6-2 to win 1 st Place.
Liberal travels to Buhler April 19 th for their next tournament.
