Liberal swept #18 3A Alva, Oklahoma 12-4 and 7-5 Thursday in Liberal. The Redskins showed some rust playing for the first time in nine days but still took care of business in a double header which was originally scheduled for Saturday but was rained out.

In game one, Alva plated one in the first and two in the second before the Redskins scored six in the second. The Skins added two in the fourth and four in the sixth. Cole Evans (3-1) was the winning pitcher going the distance for the win. Tim Fitzgerald was 3-4 while Jared Hasik was 2-2 with two RBI’s. Kaiden Long was 2-4 with a double and two RBI’s.

In game two, the Redskins scored two in the first and five in the second. Kaiden Bigham was solid on the hill with six innings pitched allowing two earned runs. Fitzgerald was 2-3 with a double and an RBI while Hasik was 2-3. Long whacked a three RBI double to right center.

Liberal is 8-4 and plays two at Colby Friday. The Goldbugs are 14-14.
