Redskins Sweep Buffaloes in Garden City

Liberal’s baseball team swept Garden City on Senior Day at Lightner Field in Garden City. The Redskins won game one 14-4 in six innings and took game two 6-3.
Liberal came out swinging with 14 runs and 18 hits. The Redskins scored six in the second all with two outs. Jared Hasik singled home a run befoe Sylman Pando added an RBI single. Kaiden Long doubled home a run. Stevie Lira added an RBI single. The Redskins added three in the fourth when Jacob McCarter tripled and Tim Fitzgerald tripled right behind him and scored on an error. The Buffaloes scored two in the fourth to make it 9-2. LHS added two in the fifth as Hasik provided an RBI single. Garden scored two more in the fifth to make it 11-4. Cole Evans blasted his fourth homer of the year out to right center. Long followed that up with a triple before Angel Archuleta singled home a run and Fitzgerald singled home a run. Evans pitched four innings with nine strikeouts allowing two runs. Tucker Deaton went two innings. Fitzgerald, Hasik, Evans, and Long had three hits a piece. Archuleta had two hits.
The Redskins jumped on a crestfallen GCHS team in game two for two runs on one hit in the first and four runs on two hits in the second. Evans had an RBI single in the first and Fitzgerald had an RBI hit in the second. The Buffaloes had two errors, five walks, and a beanball in the first two innings. The Buffs out-hit the Skins 10-5 but still won the game. Kaiden Bigham pitched 4.33 innings allowing three runs and freshman Alex Yanez pitched 2.66 innings scoreless. Archuleta was 2-3 and threw out a runner trying to steal.
Liberal has won nine in a row and is 13-4 overall and 3-2 in the WAC and Garden City is 7-7 and 3-3 in the WAC. The Redskins play one game at Dodge City at 6 Friday night at Demon Field airing on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
