Four Redskins scored in double figures as LHS trounced the Ulysses Tigers 84-54 Friday night in the opener at the Big House.  It’s Liberal sixth straight opening night win.  It’s the first win at Liberal for head coach Brandt Rogers who went 93-50 at Ness City and 42-24 at South Central.

The Redskins vaulted out to leads of 16-4 and 25-12.  Liberal led 25-15 after one quarter.  The Skins led 44-27 and led 44-29 at halftime.  Liberal’s lead ballooned to 24 at 53-29 and led 66-44 after three.   Much of the 4th quarter was played with a running clock.

Liberal shot 51 percent.  LHS connected on 8-14 three pointers.  The Skins were 16-20 from the foul line.

James Fieser poured in a career high 26 points and was Epic Touch Player of the Year.  Carson Chamberlain made 5 three pointers and scored 22.  Zayden Martinez scored 19 including a break away dunk.  Zayden grabbed 10 rebounds.  Brooks Kappelmann scored 10 and eight rebounds. Carsen Walker led Ulysses with 18 while Alex Navarette and Danzel Mendez had 15.

Liberal plays at Valley Center Tuesday night at about 6:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
