For the seventh straight year, the Liberal Redskins are 1-0. Liberal traveled to Lamar to top the Rye Thunderbolts 69-47 Thursday afternoon and evening in the Lamar Community Building. The Redskins won despite going 5-24 from the foul line. The Redskin defense stymied Rye all game.
Liberal led 9-4 and took a 15-8 lead after one quarter. It was 30-21 Skins at halftime. LHS led 49-30 after three. The Skins led by as many as 24 at 60-36.
The Redskins made 8-15 from three point range while Rye was 2-14 from distance.
Juan Diego was Epic Touch Player of the Game making five three pointers and scoring 17. Landon Martinez added 14. Adan Amador and freshman Eathan Hernandez scored 11 a piece.
The Redskins host Emporia Friday night at about 7:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
