Liberal head coach Scott Hinkle’s postgame conversation with his team was brief. Liberal defeated Perryton 55-51 in overtime Tuesday night in Perryton. After the game, Hinkle said it was a chance to learn from the game but also time to move on and turn their attention to WAC competition which begins Friday night when #5 4A division 1 Hays comes to town.

The Redskins were red hot from beyond the three point line in the first half going 7-11. Cade Hinkle made five first half three pointers but Liberal only led 27-25 at the half. LHS bolted to 42-28 lead after three quarters before the Rangers rallied to tie it at 49-49 on Ivan Tevis’ driving layup to tie it after LHS made one of two free throws. Liberal won the game despite going 3-11 at the foul line in overtime.

Hinkle scored 18 and made six three pointers. George Brosowske scored 17 for Perryton. LHS is 5-1 and PHS is 5-11. Liberal hosts Hays at about 7:45 Friday on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
