Redskins Outlast Demons to Share WAC Title

Regulation isn’t enough time to determine a winner when Liberal and Dodge City get together to play soccer. After a 1-0 overtime loss to the Demons last month in Liberal, the Redskins won 1-0 in double overtime at Dodge City Memorial Stadium Thursday night. Pedro Lara scored on a penalty kick after a hand ball two minutes into the second overtime. The Red Demons had a lot of early opportunities to score but the Redskin defense denied them. Jose Alonso made a great save in overtime on a DCHS shot from the 18. Liberal finishes the regular season 13-2-1 and 6-2 in the WAC while the Demons are 12-4 and 6-2 in the WAC. The two teams share the WAC title. Liberal is the three seed and host Great Bend Tuesday night at 6.
