Redskins Open Guthrie Tournament with a Win

The Liberal Redskin baseball team opened their tournament in Guthrie with a 4-2 win over the Guthrie Blue Jays Thursday afternoon in Guthrie.  It’s Liberal’s fourth straight win.

The Redskins scored one in the first before Guthrie countered with two in the second.  The Skins countered with one in the fourth to tie it and two in the sixth.

Brooks Kappelmann worked five innings with nine strikeouts and two walks.  Zayden Martinez pitched one scoreless inning with three strikeouts.  Xavier Porras and Aiden Miramontes had two hits a piece.  Miramontes and Kappelmann had doubles.  The Redskins out-hit the Blue Jays 9-4.  Guthrie had four errors and LHS had two errors.

Guthrie is 13-8 and Liberal is 6-6.  LHS plays Friday night at 6:45 at Guthrie.
