Redskins Hold Off Hays

The Redskins began their well traveled week with a 3-2 win at Hays Tuesday night.  The Hays Indians rallied from down 2-0 to tie the game at 2-2, but the Skins scored with 20 minutes left for the decisive goal.

The Redskins scored first as Aron Duque scored on a corner kick from Josh Garcia 7:50 into the half.  Suain Moncayo scored on a penalty kick for a 2-0 lead at the 21:46 mark.  Hays scored on a corner kick with 17 minutes remaining in the half.  It was 2-1 Skins at the half.  The Indians tied the game at 2-2 after an LHS handball in the box.  HHS scored the penalty kick.  Suain Moncayo scored the decisive goal with 20 minutes left with an assist from Josh Garcia.

Hays is 6-8 overall and 2-5 in the WAC.  The Redskins sweep the season series and are 10-1-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the WAC.  The Redskins travel to the Kansas City area to play in the Sunflower Showdown Friday and Saturday.  Liberal plays Blue Valley Friday evening at 5pm at CBAC in Olathe.   LHS plays defending 6A champ Olathe East at 11am Saturday morning.
