Redskins Handle Hays at Home

Liberal’s soccer team is 3-1 in the WAC after a 6-3 win over the Hays Indians at the Gary Cornelsen Sports Complex Thursday afternoon. LHS took a 2-1 lead at the half on a day without much win and with temperatures in the lower 70’s. The Indians actually scored first at the 19:15 mark. Mike Fonseca found Robert Campos at the 17:25 mark to tie it. Luis Mijares scred at the 6:43 mark to give the Redskins the 2-1 lead. Brian Alvarez scored on a direct kick at the 34:30 mark of the second half for a 3-1 lead. Juan Alvarado found the back of the south net with an assist from Mijares to make it 4-1. Campos scored at the 14:49 mark with a Fonseca assist to give the Skins a 5-1 lead. Hays scored twice within about a minute to make the score 5-3 within about 11 minutes to go. Juan Alvarado scored with about 10 seconds left to make it 6-3. LHS is 5-4 and 3-1 in the WAC and Hays is 5-7 and win less in the WAC.
