Thirty shots on goal, or else. That was the message Liberal head soccer coach Lori Navarro delivered to her Redskins indicating that if the team doesn’t average 30 shots on goal the rest of the season, practice would become more difficult for the team. After just 12 shots on goal at Garden City Tuesday, Liberal fired 26 shots on goal Thursday at Hays in a 7-1 blowout win. Navarro pulled her starters with 28 minutes to play in the game leading 6-1 at the time. Isai Gutierrez and Jose Chavira scored two goals a piece. Hector Mata, Socorro Martinez, and Jorge Ponce each scored goals for the 9-1-1 Redskins who are 6-0 in the WAC. Gutierrez dished two assists while Chavira, Joe Pena, Jose Flores, and Felix Kahle added assists.

Liberal sweeps the season series with fourth ranked Hays who is 9-4. Liberal opens the Wichita North Cup against Wichita West Monday at 2:30 and then will play either Wichita East or Andover Central Wednesday in Wichita.
