Redskins Fall Short in Battle for the Bell

The Liberal Redskins and Dodge City Red Demons entered Thursday’s game at Dodge City Fieldhouse both having lost six in a row.  So something had to give.  Dodge City dominated the game 54-35 winning the Backyard Battle for the Bell.

The Red Demons led 12-6 after one.  The Demons claimed second quarter leads of 22-6 and 27-8 before leading 28-11 at the half.  DCHS led 41-21 after three.

For this game, the stats told the story.  Dodge City shot 50 percent and Liberal shot 30 percent.  Dodge had 16 assists while Liberal had six.  LHS was 1-13 from three point range.  Liberal committed 21 turnovers in the loss.  Dodge City led points off turnovers 24-12.

James Fieser scored 13.  Zayden Martinez had eight points and 10 rebounds.

Dodge City is 8-12 and finishes 3-5 in the WAC.  Liberal loses their 25th straight WAC game and falls to 5-15 overall and 0-8 in the WAC.  Liberal will likely play at Wichita Heights Wednesday evening on 1270 and 92.3.
