Basketball is a make or miss sport.  That was evident Friday night in the Big House as the visiting Great Bend Panthers made 51 percent of their shots and were 11-23 from three point range in beating Liberal 59-45.  Liberal falls to 2-4 in the Big House this season.

The Panthers led 10-5 and 13-8 after one.  Great Bend led 22-12 and led 22-18 at halftime.  Great Bend led 36-26 and led 36-30 before a 39-30 lead after three.  GBHS led 41-30 and led 43-32.  The Panthers led 46-32 and 50-35.

Lee Hatcher scored 18 and Hunter Hatcher had 13.  They combined to shoot all six of Liberal’s free throws.  The Panthers out rebounded the Redskins 25-18.  The Redskins shot 35 percent from the field which is near their season average.  LHS was 7-25 from three point range.  Liberal only committed six turnovers and Great Bend had nine.

Liberal is 7-8 overall and 2-3 in the WAC.  Great Bend is 11-4 and 3-1 in the WAC.  The Panthers win for the third consecutive time in the Big House.  Liberal plays at Guymon Tuesday night at 8 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
