The Liberal boys tennis team will open their season.  It will happen soon.  After having the first two tournaments at Valley Center and Colby weathered out, Liberal opens at Olathe Northwest on Friday.  The boys have a new look lineup coming off back to back seasons on qualifying both doubles teams to state.

Last year Parker Brown and Daniel Nguyen along with Jovanni Garcia and Emmanuel Garcia made state.  In 2023, Hudson Brown and Daniel Nguyen made state along with Parker Brown and Emmanuel Garcia.

Emmanuel Garcia is back for his senior season and begins the season at number one singles.  The brothers Brown will team together in doubles as Sr. Parker Brown and So. Quinn Brown will begin the season as doubles partners.  Parker has been to state the past two seasons while Quinn faced some of the state’s best opponents as a freshman last year.  J-Kobe Contreras is a freshman who will open at number two singles.  The number two doubles team is Fr. Easton Martinez  and Jr. Diego Flores. Senior Miguel Ovalle, Jr. Aaron Duque and So. Edgar Galindo will also vie for varsity spots.

David Short is in his third season as head coach.  There are 13 boys out for tennis.
