Redskin Postseason is On Track After De-railing Newton

The Liberal Redskins win a postseason game for the first time since 2009. The Redskins defeated the Newton Railers 60-47 Wednesday night in the Big House to open sub state with a victory. The Skins are 9-12 and face 13-8 Salina Central Friday night at 7:45 in Newton for the right to go to the state tournament. The Mustangs held off Great Bend 57-53 in double overtime.

The Redskins took a 13-8 lead after one quarter and led 25-17 at halftime. LHS led 38-27 after three and balooned the lead to 16 (43-27) with 6:02 to play. The Skins made enough free throws down the stretch and won their fifth straight home game and sixth in the last seven tries. Newton, coached by legendary Don Cameron who has 502 wins at Newton, Wichita East, Buhler, and Canton-Galva finished 6-15.

The Redskins were balanced at DeVondre Livingston and B.J. Washington scored 10 a piece. J.J. Lewis and Kenlee West scored nine a piece.

The Friday night game against Salina Central will air on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.
