Redskin Golf Scores Season Best at Hays

The LHS boys golf team played at Smoky Hills in Hays Monday.  Here’s more from coach Nick Rotolo.

The third tournament of the year started to see playing the tougher courses paying off. Redskins finished 7th out of 11 teams with a season low of 390. Garden City ran away with the team title by 30 shots and a score of 318. We are starting to show some improvement but still have some things we need to work on the next couple days before going to Dodge on Thursday. We did beat Great Bend and kept it close with Dodge and Hays. Over the next couple days we will focus on getting the tee shot into play and not allowing a bad hole to derail our next couple holes. We had a stretch in the middle of the round where some shots were hit well just on the wrong line and it cost us some strokes and then carried over for a couple holes. The boys showed a lot of fight and finished up the last 5-6 holes strongly.

Carson Gilmore les the team with an 87 (47-40) and a 19th place finish. Was just a couple strokes from finishing in top 10. Ryan Mein also had a strong back 9 to shoot 94 (54-40) and to place 29th. Logan Miller shot 97 to finish 33rd. Joseph Haskell improved in his second varsity tournament with a 112 and finished 52nd. Tacoma Gilmore shot 117 and finished 56th. And Aden Freeland rounded out the team with a 152.

The same 6 will go to Dodge on Thursday and we have added a JV tournament in Elkhart for Thursday as well.
