James Fieser returned to the lineup as the Liberal Redskins put the clamps down on the Elk City Elks 46-38 Friday night at Boomer Fieldhouse in Woodward. It was Liberal’s first game in Woodward’s Winter Classic.
The Elks jumped on the Redskins early taking leads of 12-4 and 16-10. The Redskins buried a pair of 3’s before the end of the first quarter to tie the score at 16-16 after one. The Redskins led 24-19 at halftime. LHS led 26-19 in the third and led 32-25 before taking a 32-27 lead after three. Elk City cut the Redskin lead to 32-30 but LHS took a 37-32 lead. Liberal never trailed or tied with Elk City in the second half.
James Fieser was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 18 points. Juan Diego added 11.
Elk City is 1-2 and Liberal is 2-2. The Redskins play Yukon Saturday night at about 7:30 for the championship on 1270 and 92.3.
