The #18 Coffeyville Red Ravens didn’t need a lights out shooting performance to have topped the last place Seward County Saints Wednesday night at Nellis Hall in Coffeyville. But that’s exactly what they got anyway. The Ravens made 55 percent of their shots and 10-18 of their three pointers on the way to handing the Saints a ninth straight loss 74-58 in Nellis Hall.
Seward played an abysmal first half trailing 38-20 at the break. The Saints missed multiple assignments on defense allowing Coffeyville’s leading scorer Brian Griffith to go off for 21 first half points. The Saints actually out scored the Red Ravens in the second half 38-36. Coffeyville’s biggest lead was 24 at 46-22.
Seward shot 42 percent making 2-9 from three and 6-8 from the free throw line. Seward out rebounded the Ravens 33-29.
Muhammed Jobe had 18 points and seven rebounds. Carson Bennett added 12. Loic Affoumon was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Coffeyville wins their fourth straight going to 21-7 overall and 17-5 in the KJCCC. Seward is 3-24 overall and 2-20 in the Jayhawk. This ties for second most losses in Saints history. Seward hosts Hutchinson for homecoming Saturday at 4pm on 107.5. Billy’s Ayr Lanes is the game sponsor.
